What Baakee keeps about you, why, and how to take it back.

Effective October 2026

Who we are

Baakee ("we", "us") is a money-tracking app made for people in the Maldives. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

Questions about it are always welcome at hello@baakee.com.

What we collect

What you give us. Your display name, and the money records you add: money sources and balances, expenses, income and transfers, bills, budgets, goals, salary dates, categories and notes. If you use households, trips or groups, also their names, the people in them, shared expenses, payments and invitations.

What we create for you. A Baakee ID and a Recovery Key. We only keep a scrambled form of your Recovery Key, so we can't read it.

From your phone. When you sign in we keep the device name and type, the network address and basic app details. This lets you see and end your sessions, and helps us keep Baakee secure. Your PIN and any Face ID or fingerprint unlock stay on your phone. We never receive them.

What we don't collect. Your phone number, email address, contacts, location, photos, bank passwords or card numbers. Baakee does not connect to your bank and never moves your money.

How we use it

  • To run Baakee: your balances, bills, budgets, goals, Safe to spend and shared spaces.
  • To keep accounts secure and stop abuse.
  • To fix problems and make the app better.
  • To answer you when you write to hello@baakee.com.

We do not sell your information, show ads, or build advertising profiles.

Who can see it

You. Your personal money is visible only to you.

People in a shared space. Members of a household, trip or group see what is shared in that space, such as shared expenses, payments and member names. They never see your personal money sources, balances or private records.

Our hosting provider. It stores data for us and may only use it to run our service.

Authorities. Only where the law requires us to share something. Nobody else.

How we protect it

  • Everything between the app and our servers travels encrypted (HTTPS).
  • Your sign-in is kept in your phone's secure storage.
  • Access to our servers is limited, and sign-in attempts are rate-limited.

No system is perfectly safe, so please keep your Recovery Key and PIN private.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account exists.

When you delete your account, your name, Baakee ID, sign-in and everything you typed are erased. Amounts and dates in shared spaces stay for the other members, shown as "Former member", with nothing that identifies you. Backup copies are replaced on their normal schedule.

Your choices

  • See and correct your information: your name in Settings, and your records in the app.
  • Delete your account: Settings, then Security & Privacy, then Delete account. If you can no longer use the app, ask us at baakee.com/remv.
  • Leave any shared space whenever you like.
  • End your sign-in on any device under Manage devices.
  • Ask us anything about your information at hello@baakee.com.

We follow the laws that apply to us in the Republic of Maldives.

Children

Baakee is not meant for anyone under 18. If we learn we hold information from a child, we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed, and we will tell you in the app about anything important.
